Definition:-

Importance:-

Nutrients:-

The body needs nutrients to make energy, grow, repair tissues, and keep systems working smoothly. There are two major classes of nutrients: macronutrients, which include carbohydrates, protein, and fat, and micronutrients, which include vitamins and minerals.


Nutritional requirements:-

The amount of nutrients a person needs varies based on age, gender, daily activities, pregnancy, lactation, and state of health.

 Body fat distribution is associated with health risks. Waist circumference is a better predictor of health risk than BMI. Fat around the abdomen, or a "pot belly", is more likely to lead to obesity-related health conditions.

Dietary reference intakes include the Estimated Average Requirement (EAR), Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA), Adequate Intake (AI), and Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL).
